Ted the Bellhop: I'm by myself, and looking after your kids is a pain in the ass I don't need.
Man: Are you calling my kids a pain in the ass?
Ted the Bellhop: Why, no, sir, not the kids. It's the situation that is a pain in the ass.
Man: No, you were right the first time. They're a pain in the ass.

I've got a couple of friends who recently got engaged. When they told me I figured it was a joke so I ignored it. Then the evidence started to pile up that maybe it wasn't a joke, that they were actually engaged and it sort of scared me. I'm 29 and I can't get my life together long enough to graduate college and people I know are out getting engaged. Next they'll do something crazy like move in together or buy a house. While I don't want a house, my current state of being in between apartments does leave something to be desired in the stability department. It's all fun and games until you overstay your welcome.
Then I hear conversations like this one between my friend and her mom and it makes me happy that the worst thing I deal with is having to move, yet again, back to LA.
Her: [fiancé] asked me if I wanted a little me running around. I'm don't know, we're not even married yet. I mean, I like the idea of having kids but its the specifics that are scary. I really need someone to talk to about this.Mom: I've got another call. I'll call you tomorrow.
That's the kind of mother daughter relationship that warms my heart.
